Look for high search volume keywords
Try to find keywords that are searched by more number of people. The more the number of users are in search of a specific term, the likelier they are to view your website. In case your website ranks high for some keywords that have a higher search volume, you can be assured of higher visitor traffic for your site. Choose less competitive keywords
The more ‘competition’ a keyword has, the more difficult it is to rank. Unless your site gets ranked for high volume and high searched keywords, it will not be of any use to target the same. Keywords having a SEO difficulty rating ranging between 0 and 9 are quite easier to rank for while those about 50 rating are not going to suit your purpose. It makes better sense to choose less competitive keywords when you find that the search terms that you are targeting have big domains like Amazon or Wikipedia ranking for them already.
Look for keywords that have high conversion rates
Typically, it is tougher to edit keywords that have a short length and having more competition. Referred to as “head keywords”, these have just 1 or 2 words and have high SEO difficulty rating, high competition and high monthly search volume. You would do better to look for “Long tail keywords” rather than “Head keywords”. There are 3 words or more in Long tail keywords. These have a higher CTR, higher conversion rate and are more specific.
Check Competitor Keywords
Look for competing keywords while trying to conduct keyword research for your own business. It can let you understand the types of keywords that they are targeting, get an idea about their target audience as well as what they have on offer.
